Sang Ria Grill Extremely good pork spare ribs. Good menu with a great ice-cream section that does the best waffles. On some nights they have a curry section to the side for you to choose from instead of the normal menu. 10 min walk. Easy to catch a taxi from here back to Villa.

Chapter 2 Is a very popular spot to eat. Best to book. Indonesian and European food. They have great live entertainment.

Mozzarella by the sea Italian a’ la carte on the beach front of Seminyak beach. Walking distance 20 to 25 mins from Villa. On some nights they have a band playing the Beatles songs. Very good and entertaining. Must book for these days. Need to ring to find out what day they are playing. Well worth it. You can catch a Taxi to the restaurant and to get home just walk down and past the Hotel Bali Niksoma and catch a Taxi in Jl Padma Utara. They can call a taxi for an extra fee to the Taxi.

Metis High end a’ la carte French Influenced Menu. Very good food, huge choice, expensive. Great for special occasions and spoiling someone. Nice view.

Sardine Mainly seafood, not a huge menu but do have steak, pork and chicken to choose from. Opposite Metis, lovely setting with view of rice field, which you can walk through. Good for special occasions, romance and those new to Bali. Not quite as expensive as Metis.

Starfish Bloo (W) A fantastic Sunday Buffet. Booking essential as it fills up fast. Three types of packages to choose from. Good ocean view with great atmosphere. Well worth the money spent. Transport needed.

SNORKELING AND SCUBA DIVING Scuba with the Manta Rays and Mola Mola. You can only scuba dive with the Mola Mola July to October. Diving with the Manta Rays is all year round.

There are requirements for these tours, each company has a different minimum. Such as need certificate 25, proof of having done a dive with in the last 6 months, having done more than 30 dives. The dive is off Nusa Paneda and the currents can be cold and quite dangerous, only for the experienced.

All these tours leave Bali on a boat out to where you dive then bring you back to Bali. Transport can be own transport or included in the tour company.

BALI KITE FESTIVAL An annual international event held in the Padang Galak area, Sanur Beach in July. They fly huge kites requiring teams of 10 men.

NYEPI DAY Is a New Year’s celebration for the Balinese. Also known a Saka New Year and Bali Day of Silence. All routine activities come to a halt, no traffic on the roads, no one is aloud to step outside their own home complex and the Airport is closed. It starts from 6am to 6am the next morning and is for self-reflection. Best avoided as a tourist due to the strict restrictions but also worth it once, to experience the before and after days which are full of rare highlights. The streets have many Paper Mache figures called Ogoh-ogoh well worth seeing.

GALUNGAN A celebrated holiday about the victory of dharma over adharma. It is believed ancestral spirits visit the earth to their former homes. The people now living there are to pray and make offerings to honour them. The Balinese put decorative bamboo poles with offerings, on the side of the road outside their homes. These are called Penjor.

KUNINGAN This is the last day of the Galungan holiday where the ancestral Spirits return to heaven. It is 10 days after Galungan and is for prayers and offerings. The 11^th day after is for fun.

RAMADAN Observed by Muslims as a month of fasting. This fasting is from dawn until sunset. They are to refrain from sinful behaviour. Food and drink is taken before dawn and after sunset. There is increased prayers and the recitation of the Quran for the purpose of spiritual rewards.

TOURIST DESK In the lounge we have a tour desk with pamphlets and a book containing all the major tourist spots in each region in Bali. Feel free to browse, we hope this will help you decide what you would like to see. Wayan will advise you on distances, cost and effort required.

TOURS Wayan, our Manager's husband, has his own transport business and a vast knowledge of Bali, its major tourist spots and some not so touristy. He speaks English and Indonesian well. His car is a Toyota 7 seater plus driver, air conditioned, well maintained and he is a very safe, reliable driver. Wayan can tailor any tour to suit your needs and price.

On average he charges US $45 for the car for 8 to 10 hours but negotiate with him as it depends on what you want to do and where you go and entrance fees to some Temples and tourist spots.
